The true test isn't if they are dying will I feed them? It's if they are flourishing - even more than me - will I be happy for them?
It's not, how generous am I to those who like me and who I like or even how much do I tolerate those who I don't like? It's to what depths of wickedness and vengeance can I plunge when I am offended? It's not just how much can love control my behavior but how much more does hate do the same?
Some times we can get so distracted by the fruits of our passionate love that we are blinded to the fruits of our passionate hate. Even more interesting is what we do with our negative feelings than what we do with the more positive ones. Dear Friends, let us not be too hasty in congratulating ourselves as being kindhearted and loving people.
